A Guts and Ultimate Fan

I think this tournament should be eye-opening for everyone involved. If you are exclusively a Guts player or exclusively an Ultimate player, you owe it to yourself to watch the "other" sport being played at these championships.

I will be at the WUGC 2008, playing on one of the two USA Guts teams. But in 1976 (I realize that was a lifetime ago for some of you) I was on the World Champion Air Aces Guts team and on the Michigan State University Ultimate squad from which I was selected to be a member of the West Ultimate All-Star team at the World Frisbee Championships. So I have competed in both sports at the highest level.

I can tell you from experience that the sports are equally rigorous, demanding of skill and talent, and deserving of respect as athletic endeavors.

So if you are a serious Ultimate player or an insane Guts player, you should make it a point to experience the other sport being showcased at this world-class event. You might even want to try your hand at the other sport. (Ultimate players, trim your finger nails before you try your hand at Guts, or we will trim them for you!)

Good luck to everyone there, and we'll see you on the field.
