The 2008 World Ultimate and Guts Championships is looking for charismatic, outgoing, and personable Ultimate Frisbee sports enthusiasts to provide the following:
- Announcer duties at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies
- Announcer duties for the Awards Ceremonies
- Game commentary before, during (between points), and after the Showcase Games, including all eight finals.

It is important that we have a consistent “voice” throughout Worlds week and therefore prefer to limit the number of Announcers to four, with any two announcers working a shift together. Ideally, we would like two male and two female announcers.

Responsibilities: 

Throughout the week, there are a number of duties for announcers to perform. Some of the most important have been captured below.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies:
- Announce countries as they enter the stadium in the Parade of Nations. Content includes Country name, number of divisions represented, previous Worlds participation, and interesting factoids.
- Introduce dignitaries prior to their speeches
- Introduce entertainment.

Showcase Games:
- Conduct short pre-game shows, including interviews with captains of various teams
- Announce teams participating in showcase, including highlights from their games throughout the week
- Provide commentary between each point of the game, including who participated in scoring, how many turnovers occurred, what big plays happened, etc.
- Announce half-time show participants and activity.

Presentation of Awards:
- Announce Gold, Silver, Bronze winners and identify team captains.
- Announce medal presenters.
- Provide interesting commentary during presentation of awards.

Qualifications: 

- Strong public speaker and communicator
- Very strong knowledge of Ultimate; knowledge of Guts an asset
- Fluency in English; additional languages an asset
- Charismatic, outgoing, and personable to keep audiences informed and entertained
- Professional attitude
- Call plays fairly for Showcase Games - no “home court advantage” attitude
- Able to work/interact with diverse group of people from dignitaries, field officials, players, and spectators to other volunteers
- Previous Announcer or Master of Ceremonies experience an asset

Commitment: 

4-5 shifts per Announcer
