Well, I was one of the official photographers at WUCC06 in Perth and my pics were pretty well received there. I will be at WUGC08 and this time I'm not trying to play as well - I'm coming over purely as a photographer.
I've found out that the accommodation where I am staying has good fast Internet so I expect to be uploading hundreds of pics per day, and if I can get my ass into gear I might also setup a blog to cover the major events of each day as well.
With the number of teams and concurrent games, it's unlikely I'll get a chance to cover all teams. I'm in this not to make a stack of money, but it would be really nice to at least get some way towards covering my costs to attend a big long party so I'll be offering guaranteed full game coverage for a fee once I work out what's reasonable. If anyone's interested, then get in touch with me through my website - and check out the photos from WUCC06 below...
The full blockstack TV crew will be in Vancouver throughout the tournament. Our aim is to produce a podcast every day covering all the major news, interviews and video highlights. We are currently working with the tournament organisers to make it the best coverage possible.
You can check out the stuff we've been doing from Paganello and Copenhagen on our site.
Hi Tom - Good to see you'll be at WUGC2008 - I have admired your photos for a few years... Good ultimate photography is hard, and typically it's only players or ex players that can pull it off for some reason.
Look forward to catching up at the tourney.
As for Internet - I am staying at the Gage towers with the NZ squad, and many of the UBC accommodation options have a good, fast Internet option called Resnet... It costs $10 to setup, and apparently there's a fair use policy which may restrict us to 5GB/day... That's no issue for me with stills, probably wouldn't be an issue for you either as I imagine you upload somewhere else first.
Apparently speed is great - certainly better than anything available here in NZ :-)
I still haven't heard back from the event organisers on accreditation or facilities for media / photographers... It would be nice to find out so I know what I have to arrange myself.
Double post... Also, what
Double post...
Also, what about the photos? Does anyone know if they are doing it for sure?
I would like to see more huck photos... Just to throw it out there ;)
